Multi-instrumentiste à ses débuts, Gérard Dupervil pouvait jouer de la trompette, l’accordéon, l’harmonium, la guitare et le malaca. Armé de ces diverses aptitudes, il était prêt pour bousculer certaines idées reçues. (…)
Gérard rendit son dernier soupir un matin de juin 1994, après s’être établi comme l’un des chanteurs les plus vénérés de son temps, l’homme à la voix exquise, le crooner sans pareil.

De tous nos chanteurs, Gérard Dupervil reste émouvant de poésie et de charme exquis. Son art était créatif et maintenu à un grand niveau esthétique. “Bon Voyage”, “Trahison”, “Chère Maman”, “Fleur de Mai” restent des œuvres immortelles et sont passées à la postérité.
Gérard Dupervil a su, à lui tout seul, incarner le Jazz des Jeunes. Ses nombreux succès auprès des femmes l’empêchaient sans doute de se vouer exclusivement à l’orchestre dirigé par René Saint-Aude, lequel astreignait ses musiciens à la plus rigoureuse discipline.
A chaque fois que ce chanteur vedette s’en allait pour s’affranchir de la tutelle trop pesante de l’exigeant maestro, l’orchestre s’en ressentait et perdait de son poids
