LOS HERMANOS ROSARIO - Si hubiese que dividir la historia del merengue en la Republica Dominicana en lo que a su estructura ritmica se refiere, a mi juicio me parece que definitivamente tendriamos que resumirla a un 'Antes Y Despues De Los Hermanos Rosario.' Aunque si bien es cierto que hay quienes con cierta justificacion señalarian a un Juan Luis Guerra Y Su Grupo 440, o a Wilfrido Vargas Y Sus Beduinos, e incluso a 'La Coco Band' como puntos de referencia en ese sentido, no es menos cierto que fueron Los Hermanos Rosario quienes verdaderamente le dieron una nueva estructura ritmica al merengue la cual se propago a traves de todo el firmamento merenguero. Solo basto una leve alteracion al golpe tradicional de la tambora, para que el fenomeno llamado 'Merengue A Lo Maco' o 'Merengue Bomba' o 'Merengue Machacao' contagiara a todo el mundo. Ese golpe de tambora aparece ya en las primeras producciones de Los Hermanos Rosario. Sin embargo, es a partir mas o menos de 1984 cuando ellos verdaderamente se identifican de manera mas definida con el nuevo golpe ritmico en la tambora, creando un nuevo estilo de merengue que años despues los consagro para siempre como 'Los Dueños Del Swing'. El publico bailador noto que ciertamente habia algo diferente en el merengue de Los Hermanos Rosario. Muchos no podian asimilar lo que era, pero se sentian contagiados con este nuevo ritmo. Sin embargo, la nueva linea de merengue no solo se limitaba a la tambora, sino que años despues Los Hermanos Rosario le imponen al bajo o 'bass' un leve cambio en donde las notas eran mas pausadas y el efecto sonoro era mas seco, haciendo que las notas del bajo resaltaran al oido causando el efecto que algunos musicos llamaron 'merengue machacao'. La linea de merengue de Los Hermanos Rosario fue muy bien asimilada por el publico ya que era un merengue muy contagioso, agradable al oido y facil de bailar. Ademas de eso, identificaba facilmente a sus creadores. En Puerto Rico por ejemplo, este estilo de merengue fue adoptado a tal punto que ya a finales de la decada de los 90's habian surgido orquestas de merengue integradas exclusivamente por musicos y cantantes Puertorriqueños quienes amparados en el 'Merengue Bomba' lograron llegar a la cima del estrellato. Otro factor que influyo de manera considerable en la 'Isla Del Encanto' Puerto Rico fue la presencia de uno de los Hermanos Rosario, en este caso Toño Rosario, quien se habia separado de sus hermanos radicandose permanentemente en Puerto Rico desde 1991, creando su propia orquesta e imponiendo aun mas esa linea de merengue creada por ellos. Entre los cantantes y orquestas de merengues de Puerto Rico que mas se identifican con el 'Merengue A Lo Maco' o 'Merengue Bomba' creado por Los Hermanos Rosario tendriamos que mencionar sin temor a equivocarnos a dos de ellos: 'El Grupo Mania' y 'Elvis Crespo'. El parecido que estas orquestas y cantantes tienen con la musica de Los Hermanos Rosario es tan cercano que en algunos casos, como por ejemplo 'El Grupo Mania,' la gente llego a confundirlos al escucharlos en la radio o en los discos.
En estos video clips de la decada de los 80's podemos ver a Los Hermanos Rosario, sin su hermano Pepe Rosario quien era el pianista y director musical de la orquesta y quien lamentablemente fue vilmente asesinado por una joven en Marzo de 1983 tras un confuso incidente. Sin embargo podemos ver en el frente a las hermanas Rosario a cargo de los coros y la coreografia. Los cantantes son Raffa Rosario, y Toño Rosario quien aun formaba parte de la orquesta.
Otros hermanos tambien forman parte de la orquesta, como por ejemplo el bajista, el guirero, y el tamborero.

The story:
after every magical night in the Tropicana club,
when I got home in the morning, on TV on the German program VOX,
there was a show with parties in different clubs, Love Parade and cruise ships,
it was called "Rave around the World - Rave and Cruise"(1997).
I didn't go to bed until I had enjoyed a few more songs...
So this mix is a selection of my favorite songs from "Rave around the World". (and others...)
Although this mix is almost 20 years old, the songs bring joy to the souls of those who were partying HARD back then!
