Jean Gesner Henry (May 10, 1925 - January 29, 1998), popularly known as Coupé Cloué, was a Haïtian singer, guitarist, and bandleader. He was known for defining a style of Haïtian compas music he called kompa mamba, and for the sometimes bawdy innuendo used in his songs. In the early 1970s the group expanded from its original three, and renamed itself Ensemble Select. That decade also saw an increase in his use of racy spoken preaching and storytelling in addition to singing during songs; this became one of his trademarks.

In 1978 Henry toured extensively in Africa, greatly increasing his international prominence. His popularity in West Africa was especially boosted by similarities between the rhythms and sounds of Henry's music and indigenous African soukous music. It was there that Henry earned the nickname Roi Coupé, or King Coupé. During the 1980s and early 1990s, Henry continued to perform and record prolifically.

Henry died of diabetes in January 1998, having only retired from performing the previous month. He was mourned in Port-au-Prince by a day-long outdoor funeral celebration, attended by thousands of people, including the interim Minister of Culture.

Gesner Henry était connu sous le nom de Coupé Cloué, un surnom qu'il a acquis à la suite de son jeu au football comme défenseur au sein du club Aigle Noir AC, grand club de football de Port-au-Prince. Il a commencé sa carrière de musicien comme guitariste à Port-au-Prince en 1951, alors influencé par la musique cubaine.Le groupe donnait des prestations dans de petites fêtes et finalement, en 1960, il a sorti son premier album, Trio Select, qui avait une formule rythmique apparentée au kompa mais qui a su retenir le rythme cubain. Lors de sa première tournée en Afrique en 1975, Coupé Cloué découvre à la République du Congo que le soukous local avait une similarité au propre son du groupe. Jean Gesner Henry (May 10, 1925 - January 29, 1998), popularly known as Coupé Cloué, was a Haïtian singer, guitarist, and bandleader. He was known for defining a style of Haïtian compas music he called kompa mamba, and for the sometimes bawdy innuendo used in his songs. During his career, he was one of Haïti's most prominent musicians, and found much success in West Africa as well.

As a young man, he received a classical music education and worked as a cabinetmaker before becoming a professional soccer player. It was from soccer, playing defense for the Port-au-Prince club Aigles Noirs, that he acquired his nickname, "Coupé Cloué" or "cut and nail".

He began performing on guitar in 1951, and in 1957 he formed the band Trio Crystal, which he later renamed Trio Select, along with another guitar player and a maraca player. Their first album, one of the dozens Henry released during his career, was released in the late 1960s. In the early 1970s the group expanded from its original three, and renamed itself Ensemble Select. That decade also saw an increase in his use of racy spoken preaching and storytelling in addition to singing during songs; this became one of his trademarks.

In 1978 Henry toured extensively in Africa, greatly increasing his international prominence. His popularity in West Africa was especially boosted by similarities between the rhythms and sounds of Henry's music and indigenous African soukous music. It was there that Henry earned the nickname Roi Coupé, or King Coupé. During the 1980s and early 1990s, Henry continued to perform and record prolifically.

Henry died of diabetes in January 1998, having only retired from performing the previous month. He was mourned in Port-au-Prince by a day-long outdoor funeral celebration, attended by thousands of people, including the interim Minister of Culture.

Née en 1973 à Saint-Claude (Guadeloupe), Jocelyne Labylle est une chanteuse de zouk installée en France métropolitaine depuis 1998. Son premier grand succès « Quand Tu Veux », qui sort fin 1997, s’intègre dans l’album qui suit, intitulé « On Verra », paru en 1998. « J’ai Déposé Les Clefs » devient en 2000 un nouveau grand succès pour l’artiste, titre que l’on retrouve dans l’album « Ma Petite Lumière », album qui lui permettra de se produire en concert non seulement aux Antilles et en France mais aussi en Afrique de l’Ouest, notamment à Abidjan en Côte d’Ivoire. La chanteuse fait un duo avec Frankie Vincent en 1999 (titre « Tes chiant(e) » et se produit avec Cheela (accompagnées de Jacob Desvarieux, et du rappeur Passi) dans le fameux « Laisse Parler les Gens !!!» (dont l’auteur véritable est Henri Debs), tube de l’été 2003 (projet « Dis L’heure 2 Zouk »). En 2009 elle change de registre et se lance de gwo ka. Mais on la retrouve aussi cette même année sur le morceau « Chéri Pa Douté » du collectif Bisso Na Bisso.
